Housing

Different species require different forms of housing to suit their needs. Obviously larger animals require larger enclosures but also not all enclosures are suitable for all animals. For example reptiles and amphibians that require high levels of humidity aren’t suitable for mesh enclosures as it is difficult to maintain the correct levels. They also should not be housed in wooden vivaria as the wood is likely to rot; they are best housed in glass or plastic terrariums.

Invertebrates usually don’t need large enclosures and can be easily maintained in small plastic tanks. These include various acrylic enclosures as well as the recognisable Faunariums.

Screen or mesh reptile enclosures are great for species like chameleons as they provide optimal air flow and ventilation for their inhabitants. Many reptile species require misting multiple times per day in order to encourage them to drink, however they cannot tolerate high humidity in the air as this can result in respiratory problems. A mesh enclosure prevents the humidity remaining high for too long.

Plastic tubs are perfect for serious breeders who want to keep lots of snakes in a small space. They are easy to clean and come in a multitude of sizes and colours. R.U.B dividers can be used to split a draw in to two separate spaces and a double divider will split a draw in to three separate spaces.
