Merulanella sp. ‘Tricolour’ is considered by many to be the holy grail of the isopods. This species is a highly desirable isopod among collectors due to it’s bright, vibrant colours; a common trait among most Merulanella. These bold isopods are active and make a great display species, though they are not a beginner isopod as they require warmer and more stable temperatures than most other species. However they are quite prolific if kept under optimum conditions and once a colony is established.

The isopods feed on a variety of forest materials such as decaying wood and leaf litter, along with fruit, vegetables, moss, waste from reptile and invertebrate terrariums. Additional supplements such as calcium (limestone/cuttlefish bone) and fish food should be offered as part of their balanced diet.

Unlike many other Isopod species; Merulanella are able to climb both plastic and glass so their enclosure needs to have no gaps around the lid and doors, so may need some modification.

Available in a tub of 5 or 10.

Please note that for the health and safety of these animals we will not ship Woodlice in cold weather.
