The Red-lipped Mountain Dragon (Acanthosaura rubrilabris) is a striking agamid lizard from Southeast Asia, named for the reddish markings around its mouth. Like other members of the genus, it is a semi-arboreal species that relies on camouflage and stillness to avoid predators. It inhabits humid, forested environments, often perching on low vegetation or tree trunks, and is most active during the day. The males are a stunning green colour with red markings on the face, the females are a more subtle brown colour.

In captivity, A. rubrilabris requires a vertically oriented enclosure that provides ample climbing space, with branches, cork bark, and dense planting to mimic their natural forest habitat. A basking area of 27–29°C should be provided, but most of the enclosure should remain between 21–26°C with a noticeable night-time temperature drop. This species prefers cooler temperatures and should not be kept above for 30°C for prolonged periods. Humidity should be kept consistently high (70–90%) with daily misting to allow the lizards to drink from water droplets. UVB lighting is essential for their long-term health.

Their diet should consist of a variety of appropriately sized insects such as crickets, roaches, locusts, and worms, all gut-loaded and dusted with calcium and vitamin supplements. These lizards may be shy feeders at first, but they adapt well in captivity when provided with a secure environment. With proper care, A. rubrilabris can live for 8–12 years.

The Red-lipped Mountain Dragon is an attractive but somewhat delicate species, best suited to intermediate or advanced keepers.

Price is for a sexed pair of animals (1 male and 1 female).
