Panther Chameleons are known for their bright coloration— with Ambilobe’s being typically green, yellow, or blue with distinct red vertical barring in males. Females remain smaller and more subtly coloured. This locality is one of the most recognisable and popular in the hobby.
In captivity, a tall, well-ventilated enclosure is essential. Live plants, horizontal and vertical branches, and multiple basking and hiding areas help replicate their natural arboreal environment. Strong UVB lighting and a clear day–night cycle are required for proper health.
Their diet should be varied and supplemented with calcium and vitamins. Regular misting or an automated hydration system ensures proper drinking opportunities and maintains humidity. Good airflow is important to prevent respiratory issues.
Panther Chameleons are visual, active, and display-driven but are not handling-oriented. Observing their natural behaviours—colour changes, slow coordinated movements, and feeding responses—is the main appeal for keepers.
