A selectively bred form of the Rough Woodlouse (Porcellio scaber) in order to produce a different appearance to the standard grey wild type. ‘Moo Cow’ is a white variety with different amounts of black flecking, similar to the Dairy Cow variety of P. laevis.

P. scaber is a very hardy species that is happy with a broad range of temperatures. It does not require the high levels of humidity of many Isopod species and therefore can be maintained in a drier environment. This tolerance for drier environments and large range of humidity makes it very suitable for a beginner. It exists in a few colour forms, all of which require the same care. They prefer a more protein rich diet than many other Porcellio species, and in general will favour animal matter over plant matter.

Their common name of Rough Woodlouse comes from their bumpy carapace which can be seen when viewed up close.

Sold in a tub of 10.

Please note that for the health and safety of these animals we will not ship Woodlice in cold weather.
