The Javan Flying Frog (Rhacophorus margaritifer) is a medium-sized, arboreal tree frog adapted to humid tropical forest environments. It typically exhibits bright green dorsal coloration with lighter ventral surfaces and may show subtle spotting or edging depending on locality. The species is nocturnal and highly arboreal, spending most of its time in vegetation above ground level.

A vertically oriented, well-ventilated enclosure is required, with abundant climbing structures such as branches, vines, and dense live or artificial foliage. Large leaves or broad surfaces are particularly important, as this species uses them for resting and calling sites. Access to water is essential, as reproduction is associated with foam nests placed near or over water bodies.

A stable thermal gradient should be maintained, with relatively mild temperatures compared to many reptiles. High humidity is essential and should be maintained through regular misting and moisture-retentive substrate, while still ensuring adequate airflow to prevent stagnation. A shallow water area should always be available.

This species feeds on appropriately sized live insects, with feeding typically occurring at night. A varied diet is recommended, and supplementation with calcium and vitamins may be used as part of routine husbandry.

Due to its arboreal nature and sensitivity to disturbance, this species is best maintained with minimal handling. When kept under suitable conditions, it exhibits natural behaviours including nocturnal foraging, climbing, use of broad leaves for resting, and frequent positioning near water sources.
