The Furrow Orbweaver (Larinioides suspicax) is a medium-sized orb-weaving spider commonly associated with damp habitats and human structures. It typically has a brown to greyish body with subtle patterning on the abdomen, allowing it to blend into bark, stone, and vegetation. Females construct classic circular orb webs, often close to water sources where insect activity is high.

This species is primarily nocturnal to crepuscular, often resting in the web retreat during the day and becoming more active at night. It relies entirely on its web to capture prey, detecting vibrations to quickly immobilize trapped insects with silk and venom.

In captivity, a tall, well-ventilated enclosure is recommended to allow full web construction. Vertical space and multiple anchor points (branches, twigs, or frame structures) are essential. The enclosure should be kept stable, as frequent disturbance can cause web abandonment.

Humidity should be kept moderate to high (60–80%), reflecting its preference for moist environments. Light misting can be provided periodically, and ventilation should be balanced to prevent stagnation while maintaining humidity. A small water source or droplets are sufficient for hydration.

Temperature should remain within a cool to mild range, with no requirement for direct basking. Stable ambient conditions are ideal, and this species tolerates cooler conditions better than many tropical spiders.

Feeding consists of small flying insects such as flies, moths, and gnats. Prey should be introduced into the web 1–2 times per week. The spider will routinely repair or rebuild its web depending on prey capture and environmental disturbance.
