The Egyptian Wolf Spider (Lycosidae sp.) is a member of the wolf spider family, known for their keen eyesight, speed, and active hunting behaviour. Unlike web-building spiders, wolf spiders are agile ground hunters that stalk and ambush their prey. Found in arid and semi-arid regions of Egypt, they inhabit sandy soils, rocky outcrops, and scrubland where they dig shallow burrows or hide under stones.

In captivity, Egyptian Wolf Spiders require a horizontally oriented enclosure with a deep, dry substrate of sand or soil for burrowing and cover items such as bark, stones, or cork. They thrive in warm conditions with a daytime temperature in the mid to high 20s°C, with modest night drops. Humidity should be kept low to moderate (40–60%), in line with their natural desert environment, while ensuring a small water source is always available.

Their diet consists of appropriately sized live insects such as crickets, roaches, or mealworms. Wolf spiders are active hunters with a strong feeding response and fascinating to observe as they stalk and pounce on their prey.

Wolf spiders are not suitable for handling due to their speed and defensive bite, though they are not considered medically significant. Females may live up to 2–3 years, while males usually have shorter lifespans.
