Cubaris are among the most desirable isopods in the hobby, with countless locality forms and colour morphs collected and selectively bred for their striking appearances. Most remain scientifically undescribed and are given hobby names, such as ‘Rubber Ducky’, ‘Cherry Blossom’, or ‘Red Edge Albino’.

Cubaris sp. ‘Red Edge Albino’ is a unique variety noted for its pale, almost body contrasted by distinctive reddish-orange edging along the tergites. This combination makes it a stand-out species and a popular choice among collectors of rare Cubaris. Like others in the genus, it is capable of conglobation (rolling into a ball) as a form of protection.

This morph requires stable warm temperatures and high humidity, with an enclosure designed to offer both moist retreats and drier areas. A substrate of soil, leaf litter, moss, and bark provides the necessary microhabitats while helping to trap moisture. As with many delicate Cubaris forms, maintaining consistent conditions is essential for moulting and colony stability.

Cubaris sp. ‘Red Edge Albino’ is considered a more challenging variety to keep, best suited for intermediate to advanced isopod keepers who are confident in maintaining a tropical bioactive setup. Its rarity and striking appearance make it a valuable addition to specialist collections.

Sold in a tub of 10.
