The Chaco Golden Knee (G. pulchripes) is a large, calm terrestrial species known for its distinctive gold banding on the legs and overall robust build. It is widely kept due to its manageable temperament, slow movement, and impressive adult size.
In nature, this species inhabits grassland areas where it constructs deep burrows for protection and stable humidity. In captivity, it requires a terrestrial setup with deep substrate for digging, a secure hide, and moderate humidity. It typically settles well and often spends time visible near the burrow entrance.
Feeding is straightforward—crickets, roaches, and other appropriately sized invertebrates work well. Adults have slow metabolisms and do not require frequent feeding.
G. pulchripes is generally docile, making it a popular choice for both beginners and experienced keepers. It rarely shows defensive behaviour but can flick urticating hairs when stressed. With good care, this species is long-lived, hardy, and easy to maintain.
