The Blue Beauty Anole (Anolis equestris potior) is a striking subspecies of the Cuban Knight Anole, found naturally only on South Andros Island. It is best known for its bright blue colour, which stand out against its green base colour. Like other knight anoles, it is a large, alert, and powerful species that spends much of its time elevated on trunks and sturdy branches. Individuals often display using their pale dewlap and can show territorial behaviour, especially in smaller enclosures.

In the wild, this subspecies occupies warm, humid coastal forest and dense coppice habitat, where it hunts insects and small prey from mid- to high-level perches. In captivity, a tall enclosure is essential, with strong vertical branches, cork tubes, and thick foliage to provide both cover and climbing opportunities. This species benefits from well-lit, open basking areas paired with plenty of shaded retreats.

A warm basking zone around 32–34°C is required, along with strong UVB lighting to support bone health and natural behaviours. Ambient temperatures should remain high and stable, with humidity between 60–80%. Daily misting provides hydration, while good ventilation helps prevent excess moisture build-up.

A. equestris potior feeds on a wide range of appropriately sized insects and will take slightly larger prey than smaller anole species. Crickets, roaches, locusts, mealworms, black soldier fly larvae, and silkworms work well. Occasional fruit purée, nectar mixes, or soft fruit pieces can be offered, though insects should remain the primary diet. Calcium and multivitamin supplementation is essential.

With proper care, Anolis equestris potior is a long-lived and impressive display species. It is naturally fast and defensive when startled, so handling should be limited. Given adequate space, foliage, and a stable environment, this subspecies settles well and shows a wide range of natural behaviours, making it a rewarding choice for experienced keepers.
