Armadillidium granulatum ‘Lemon’ is the first colour morph of this species. This mutation has a brown base colour rather than the standard grey of wild type adults along with much larger and brighter yellow spots. Another mutation called “Magic Potion” occasionally occurs in breeding groups of A. granulatum ‘Lemon’. This mutation is also present in a few other Armadillidium species.

The Granulated Isopod (Armadillidium granulatum) is one of the largest members of the Armadillidium genus. It’s widespread throughout southern Europe making it highly adaptable and therefore easy to maintain; even for a beginner Isopod keeper. This hardy woodlouse is quite shy when kept in small groups but is also quite prolific meaning, if kept correctly, they’ll be a decent population in no time.

Similar to many Mediterranean Armadillidium species these animals can have issues moulting in excessively humid environments and care should be taken not to spray the animals directly.

This large species is an overall grey colour with lighter cream to yellow spots on the back. These spots have no set pattern and the amount present varies between individuals, making it possible for the eagle-eyed keeper to differentiate between their animals. This variation in their pattern and colour has led to the selective breeding of this species in order to produce various morphs or phases.

Sold in a tub of 10.

Please note that for the health and safety of these animals we will not ship Woodlice in cold weather.
